Taking Advantage of Early Boarding
Aim to be settled at the departure gate as early as possible in order to take advantage of early boarding and wide-open overhead bin space before everyone else piles onboard. It also allows extra time for any last-minute diaper changes just before take-off. It can be very unpleasant to endure a long taxi, take-off and ascent to an international cruising altitude with a full or blown-out diaper (speaking from experience).

If we had not checked our car seat, we also requested a luggage-check tag from the gate agent just prior to boarding and followed their plane-side instructions regarding our car seat. Don’t forget to pick it up at the arrival gate, especially if you have a connection — since it’s not so easy to go back and fetch it once inadvertently left at an arrival gate in an airport that was not your final destination!
